The Thunderhawks were host to the Welland Generals on May 29th. The Generals came out strong scoring two minutes into the first period, but the Thunderhawks stuck to their game plan and tied it up 20 seconds later and going on to finish the period ahead, 6-3.
The second period started similar to the first, with the Generals scoring within the first two minutes and the Thunderhawks answering back minutes later with two. However, with a number of undisciplined penalties by the Thunderhawks, the Generals were able to go on a 5 goal scoring streak to bring the score to 9-8 for the Thunderhawks at the end of two periods.
The 3rd saw each team trading goals until a stalemate of 11-11 at the end of the period. Going into overtime, the Thunderhawks came out strong scoring 2 within the first 6 minutes of the 10 minute overtime. The Generals were able to score one more with only seconds left in the game resulting in a Thunderhawks 13-12 win.
Leading the charge for the Thunderhawks was Devin Napolean scoring 4 goals, 2 assists and Kellen Pulera scoring 2 goals and 1 assist on his first game of the season. Connor Watson maintains his scoring streak of at least 1 goal a game for the past 5 games.
